JAKARTA,8 DECEMBER 2025 – The atmosphere at Ocean Ecopark Ancol, North Jakarta, turned more vibrant and energetic on Saturday (December 6th) as the DKI Jakarta Provincial Education Agency held Urban Sustainability Education 2025 – and the biggest highlight was the contribution from schools in South Jakarta, fully supported by the South Jakarta Administrative City Sub-District Education Office II.

Keeping the excitement high, SMKN 57 Jakarta immediately made its mark by showcasing an impressive hydroponics innovation. This soilless farming method, which uses water and nutrients as growing media, proved to be the perfect answer for Jakarta’s ongoing land scarcity issue. “We guide our students to develop modern farming innovations to support food security in urban areas,” said the school’s representative with pride.

Sarwoko, Head of South Jakarta Sub-District Education Office II, who was present at the event, emphasized that the participation of schools in his area was more than just taking part – it was a true form of commitment. “We encourage educational institutions in South Jakarta to continue developing learning innovations that help shape students’ character as environmentally conscious individuals who can contribute to the city’s sustainability,” he said in a firm yet enthusiastic tone.

The event’s goal was not just to impart knowledge, but also to equip students with practical skills. “Through this activity, I hope students not only gain knowledge about sustainability but also acquire practical skills to create solutions for urban problems, so they can become agents of change toward a green, resilient, and sustainable Jakarta,” Sarwoko concluded with great hope.
